Merry RIFTMAS to all
...and to all a good night!
Merry Jinglies and seasonal good will to Sole Traders, Limited Company owners and all the assorted inhabitants of the RIFT! Here's hoping for a wonderful, adventurous Christmas.
We had a fantastic time at Kent2020 meeting new explorers and hearing all about your own explorations and escapades. Lots of you told us that Sue Nelson’s workshop, “Everything You Wanted to Know About Starting a Business But Were Too Afraid to Ask” was just what you needed to put you on the right track to success. If you didn’t go to the show and want to watch it, we recorded it just for you.
Kent2020 was also the(pre)historic first outing of RIFTY the dinosaur, our official office mascot! We're happy to report that he was well behaved for the whole show, offering lots of good advice and hardly biting anyone. It was great to see so many of you enlist and go home with your newly adopted dinosaur pals. We have incredible plans for next year’s show, so watch this space!
Shortly after Kent2020 we welcomed our new MD and Chief Explorer, Jane Ollis, to the RIFT Accounting family. An authentic, NASA-trained super-scientist, Jane is on a mission to make business personal. Whether launching the ambitions of start-up enterprises or dropping high-yield knowledge-bombs across the small business landscape, she protects her clients from danger and guides them toward success. Asked why she chose to enter the RIFT, Jane said:
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know RIFT over the last year as one of Kent’s high growth companies. I’ve been really impressed – they are a forward-thinking, dynamic company with great people, a flair for innovation and a passion for great customer service. So when they started looking for someone to head up RIFT Accounting, which I had been involved with right from the concept stage, it was an opportunity not to be missed and a chance to move into a national and, I expect, international role.”
Jane and Sue were guests on the 200th Episode of the Business Bunker radio show doing their world-famous financial double-act. If you didn’t catch them live, don’t worry - you can still listen online at Kent Business Radio.
Jane had barely set foot in the RIFT Accounting Explorer's Lounge before she was already questing up to darkest London for The Business Show. RIFT is always on the look-out for Adventurers, Thrill-Seekers and Troublemakers to lead into new and exciting business territory, so it was amazing to be part of such a huge show and to hear all the passion and ambition of the fledgling explorers who attended. Welcome to everyone who joined the RIFT party there.
Looking ahead, we’re delighted to be involved with the Young Talent Start-Up, a community-based project aiming to help 16-25 year-olds with a flair for business to make their dreams a reality. Jane Ollis will be on the judging panel, and we’ll be involved with the many events that they have planned throughout the year.
Finally, our ever-faithful adventuring companion and devoted Robot Butler, Clear Books, was almost buried under an avalanche of awards this year. It won the coveted Best Cloud Accounting Suite prize at the UK Cloud Awards 2014, Client Software Product of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards, was a finalist in the Cloud Provider Innovation of the Year category at the 2014 UK IT Industry Awards and has been nominated in the category of Software Product of the Year for 2015 in the 2015 Finance Awards. It's been an incredible year for Clear Books, and we almost had to reformat its pride circuits to prevent an overload.
So, with all that said, it only remains to don our paperwork hats, raise our invoices for a toast and wish you all the Merriest RIFTmas ever!
